Centre for Music and Health
The health of musicians is a central theme at the International Music School Academy. We are developing a programme in cooperation with the “Gmünder ErsatzKasse GEK” that supports young musicians in keeping their bodies fit for and through music-making. The whole body is involved in every kind of musical activity, whether singing or playing an instrument, whatever your age – head – organs – bones. Musicians must be made aware of this, and this knowledge should be part of all musical training.
Since November 2003 Schloss Kapfenburg has been a centre for music and health. With this initiative we want to put across what musicians can do in order to be able to continue their music-making trouble-free for the rest of their lives.
There is a compensational exercise programme available to Academy guests, which can be booked with every practice session. We also offer a training programme in musicians’ health for music school teachers.
We publish tips and subject-matter on all areas of music and health on our Information platform “Fit with Music” and we are always pleased to help music schools with organising workshops for teachers, parents and students.
Many further activities will follow. We are pleased that you are interested in this important topic and thank the “Gmünder ErsatzKasse GEK” for the great teamwork!
